At first glance, it seems like this sign might be in some English-speaking middle eastern country.  But it’s not.  It’s in Pittsburgh.
Here’s why its paradox makes sense:
I saw a Tea Party rally participant holding a sign that read, “Liberty not Tyranny,” and I thought about how well he would fit in at a rally in Madison, Wisconsin, where we’re protesting Scott Walker’s giving no-bid contracts and tax breaks to his corporate pals at the expense of middle-class public employees.  That Tea Partier could also hold his sign in Michigan, where Rick Snyder is attempting to implement financial martial law, wherein he could dissolve elected governments in towns facing fiscal crises and appoint someone new to govern the town. Or our Tea Party friend could go to Florida, where governor Rick Scott is mandating forced drug tests on public sector workers on a quarterly basis.
It’s time for low- and middle-class Americans to stop being manipulated by our failed media, to stop claiming we disagree vehemently with each other, to stop fighting one another.  Instead, we need to start fighting the real source of tyranny, the people who benefit from war and financial meltdowns: the rich, the plutocrats, the corporate CEOs who get appointed to government positions.
